LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Lexington Fire Department was called to a farm for a water rescue Sunday evening, when two people fell out of their boat. One man made it to shore on his own. The other, Ubong Joseph David, did not.

Divers pulled David out of the private pond on Walnut Hill Road after he spent 45 minutes in the cold water. Efforts to resuscitate David failed. The 22-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Officials say the two men were fishing on the pond.

"Neither had life jackets on," said Major William Saunooke.

Saunooke says the man that made it to land was treated on-scene and did not need to be taken to the hospital.

The drowning is considered accidental.

David's funeral arrangements are pending.
