Man escapes Lexington house fire, saves dogs

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Fire destroyed a home that's more than a century old.

The fire started overnight on Tates Creek Road in Lexington, near the Jessamine and Madison county lines.

We're told the homeowner was in the process of renovations.

Fire officials say one room had fire damage. The rest of the house has smoke and fire damage.

The owner told firefighters he was asleep on the couch when he noticed smoke. So, he gathered up his two dogs, got out of the home and called 911.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
