Identity of man killed by train in Winchester released

WINCHESTER, Ky (WKYT) - We now know the identity of a man who was hit and killed by a train in downtown Winchester Monday night.

The Clark County coroner has identified the man as 54-year-old Donald Reinstedler Jr. The accident happened around 10:30pm Monday night between Broadway and East Washington Streets.

Officials say Reinstedler was walking on the train tracks when the operator of the CSX train saw him, but couldn't stop in time.

Right now, police aren't sure what he was doing on the tracks, but they say the incident is under investigation as they continue to try to piece together more details.

Roads in the area were blocked off for several hours after the crash.
