Lexington man robbed in parking lot

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A man says he was walking through a shopping center parking lot when two men came out from the behind a coffee shop asking for a dollar. When it was all over, though, he says they got away with a lot more.

"I don't know why someone would want to do that to people. I needed that money. I mean, desperately, I needed it bad," said Tim Scenters.

Scenters says he had just received a family inheritance of several thousand dollars and was on his way to get some insurance for his truck. He says a friend dropped him off in the parking lot across New Circle Road from the insurance agency and as he was walking that direction, two men came out from behind a coffee shop asking for a dollar.

"One gentleman grabbed me by my arm and said, 'Hey wait a minute'. I said, 'Come on, guys. I can't help you,' He put his hand out like that and said, 'Give us your money,'," he said.

He says the two men took off running across New Circle Road. Police searched the area for anyone matching their description, but couldn't find anyone. Scenters says the men had an odd message for him as they got away.

"He told me to have a nice day. I said, 'Yeah, you too. I hope you choke on it,'," said Scenters.

Police went to several of the businesses in the area to see if any of them had captured the incident on surveillance video, but hadn't had any luck. They say they're looking for two white men between 17 and 20, one wearing a black hooded jacket and jeans. They say the other was wearing a black jacket with red sleeves and tan pants.
