WINCHESTER, Ky. (WKYT) - We've tracked down new details about two intruders injured in an early morning home invasion.
Winchester Police have put out arrest warrants for two men; Howard Wayne Gross Jr. and Tony Daniel Gross, both of Winchester.
Police wouldn't say if the two men are brothers, but said they're related. Around 4:45 Wednesday morning Captain James Hall said the two men broke into the lower level of a home on E. Broadway when they were confronted by the homeowner's 18-year-old grandson.
"He heard something downstairs so he grabbed a gun and went down to check," Captain Hall said. "When he confronted the men, he said one of the suspects appeared to be going for something. Fearing for his life, he shot at them."
Howard, who was shot in the arm was treated and released from UK Hospital before police could question him. Tony, who remains at the hospital was shot in the leg. He will be taken into custody following treatment on a burglary charge.
"Right now we don't know where Howard Gross Junior is. We are asking the public to call us if they know of his whereabouts," Hall said.
Captain Hall said went on to say he can't release the shooter's name, but believes he knew the intruders.
At this time the teen has not been charged. Police say that part of the case has been handed over the grand jury.
