LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - New facts may come to light, as The National Geographic Channel digs into the infamous and bloody, Hatfield and McCoy feud.

Archaeologists have been working on a site in eastern Kentucky that is believed to be Randall McCoy's home. It burned to the ground after a New Year's Eve ambush by the Hatfield clan in 1888. Two of McCoy's children were killed, and his wife was seriously injured.

The Kentucky Archaeological Survey helped excavate the site, and found bullet fragments, charred wood and pieces of glass.

"Diggers" airs Tuesday night at 10 p.m. On The National Geographic Channel.
