EF-1 Tornado confirmed in Pulaski County

More Video...

FERGUSON, Ky. (WYMT) - It began just as a rainy Sunday afternoon, but then, the winds became violent.

The EF-1 tornado had winds of at least 100 mph when it touched down Sunday in Ferguson

In video taken at nearby Sexton Motors, the storage building is seen given a direct hit by the funnel cloud. Joseph Rose watched the building, used to store industrial cooking equipment, come down.

"And when I looked up in the air, I saw a little tornado come down and it struck the building behind us ....bricks and boards and everything went flying," Rose said.

One of those boards came crashing into the unoccupied apartment next door.

"I was scared, 'Holly get out of the shower,' because there is a window right there, I was afraid it would bust that window and come in on her," Lisa Sears said of her concern for her daughter.

Emergency officials estimate more than 20 structures were damaged or destroyed by the tornado and its 100 - 105 mph winds.

"For something to be so dramatic that could kill people and damage your home, it's terrifying and it is horrible...and you think it could have been us," said Sears.

No one was hurt in the storm. Officials estimate it caused at more than $100,000 in damages.

FERGUSON, Ky. (WKYT) - The National Weather Service will be in Pulaski County to survey storm damage on Monday afternoon.

Strong windows blew roofs off houses and downed trees and power lines in the Ferguson area on Sunday.

Winds also ripped apart several buildings on Waddle Road.

The National Weather Service will help determine if the damage was caused by a tornado or just really strong winds.

People who witnessed the sights and sounds of the destruction believe it was a tornado.

No one was injured in the storm.
