MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Sheriff Fred Shortridge won't reveal any names, but he says there is a new person of interest in Paul Brewer's murder case. He believes several people are involved in what he's calling a robbery gone wrong.

Deputies in Montgomery County went to check on Paul Brewer on December 22, 2011, when his sister says Brewer didn't meet her for an appointment. They found him dead inside his home on Natalie Drive.

Investigators found no forced entry into Brewer's home. They believe whoever killed Brewer, knew him.

Sheriff Shortridge and his deputies have kept this case alive the last two years, and they're hoping DNA evidence, submitted to the state crime lab in Frankfort, will help them close the case.

"And that's what's kept us really from making an arrest. We're waiting for all the evidence that we've presented and the DNA that we've collected will hopefully come back with a positive phone call saying 'hey look, we've got a match,'" said Sheriff Fred Shortridge.

Sheriff Shortridge says their newest lead came in a week and a half ago.
