ALEXANDRIA, Ky. (AP) - A northern Kentucky sheriff has made some big changes during his first few months in office.
Campbell County Sheriff Jeff Kidwell told The Kentucky Enquirer that he hopes his actions make the Campbell County Sheriff's Department more visible.
Kidwell was the first new sheriff elected to the post in 25 years, and says he almost started from scratch to rebuild the department when he took over in January.
He says he has drafted a new 250-page set of policies and procedures for the department, tightened courthouse security and opened a new branch office at the southern end of the county. In addition, he says deputies are taking a more active supporting role in responding to incidents.
