Obama to unveil gun violence plan

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama will ask Congress to ban assault weapons and limit ammunition magazines when he launches an effort to curb gun violence later today.

A lobbyist says Obama's sweeping plan also focuses on education and mental health, and calls for a focus on universal background checks.
