Animal control officers need help finding a dog that they believe is sick. The dog has been spotted multiple times along the Alexandria Drive corridor, specifically near the creek that runs through the neighborhood. People living at Cambridge and Village Drives say they most often see the dog near the creek in the morning.

The hound mix has a collar stuck in it's neck. Lexington-Fayette Animal Care & Control says they believe that wound is now infected.

Officers say they've been out to the area more than 100 times in the past month to try and capture the animal. They even purchased new equipment in hopes of finding the dog, but it is still on the loose. They need the public to stop feeding the dog, so that it will get hungry enough to go into the humane traps they have set up to capture the dog.

"As soon as someone approaches the dog, he's gone," explained Chief Nathan Bowling of Animal Care and Control. "We need the community's help on this," he said.

If the animal doesn't get medical attention soon, officers say it will die.

Officers believe the dog did belong to someone and was likely a hunting dog that got lost during a hunting trip.
