Lawrenceburg, Ky. (WKYT) - Officials broke ground on a new visitor center for Wild Turkey Distillery in Lawrenceburg on Tuesday morning.
The $4 million center will complement a new packaging facility.
The new packaging facility costs $44 million and will open in the fall of 2013. It's expected to add as many as 62 jobs in Kentucky.
The visitor center is expected to open by April 2013.
Governor Steve Beshear says the addition is a positive thing for tourism in the Commonwealth.
"When it comes to Kentucky bourbon, they all want to talk about bourbon. Both bourbon the drink and the bourbon the tourist experience," said Gov. Beshear.
Kentucky produces 95% of the world's bourbon. Bourbon was shipped to 68 different countries in 2011.
