Officials investigating train derailment in Johnson County

PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - The investigation continues into what caused a train derailment in Johnson County.

Highway 581 at Thealka was closed for several hours Sunday night, but is now back open.

We will have the latest details on this story as we get them.

PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Emergency management officials there tell us they are on the scene of a train derailment near Paintsville.

It happened Sunday evening at the CSX Railyard.

We're told a locomotive and four coal cars were involved.

Officials say the cars remained upright and were unloaded at the time of the incident.

As of 11 Sunday night, the railroad crossing on Highway 581 in Thealka is blocked to allow crews and equipment to get to the scene.

The road could be blocked for several hours.

No one was hurt in the derailment.
