Man killed in Pulaski County crash identified

SOMERSET, Ky. (WKYT) - A log truck and a car both trying to exit the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Parkway collide, killing the car's driver.

"He does have blunt force trauma to the head...that is what killed him," said coroner Charles Godbey.

Police are still investigating the cause but the coroner says the victim, identified as 63-year-old Roger Woods of Science Hill, may have tried to pass to the right of the truck.

"That's why I think that could be a possibility. The log truck being slow, he might have decided he wanted to go on around it," said Godbey.

The accident happened where the parkway's eastbound lanes end and converge onto the off ramp to US 27 North. It's where the future Interstate 66 could one day be built.

"I don't know of any other accidents here, not since the road was built," said Godbey.

Investigators say Woods' body will be sent to the medical examiner. Police say the driver of the log truck was cooperating and that blood tests would be taken on everyone.
