LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The second of two inmates who escaped from a state prison in Lexington has been caught.
State police say Christopher Melton, 23, and Tyler Roberts, 21, escaped Saturday from the Blackburn Correctional Complex in Lexington.
Late Sunday night, the Garrard County Sheriff's Office says both men were spotted near the Garrard, Lincoln County line.
Officials say after a short foot chase, they were able to arrest Melton. He's now booked in the Lincoln County Detention Center.
Deputies captured Roberts late Monday morning in Garrard County just before eleven.
Police tell us Roberts was spotted by a deputy on patrol alongside a county road. They say Roberts ran off into a field, but was arrested a short time later.
We spoke to the man whose truck was stolen by the escapees to get to Garrard County.
He says the pickup was at a shop getting worked on at the time.
"I haven't been able to get that truck started in months. And of course when the cops told me that they took it all the way down there, I was trying to figure out how on Earth they started it. I hope they don't hand me a bill for fixing it," said Brian Miller.
Both Roberts and Melton would have been eligible for parole in 2013.
