Owsley County Clerk pleads guilty in tax case

OWSLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - The Owsley County Clerk will have to resign as part of a plea deal.

The State Attorney General's Office says Sid Gabbard pleaded guilty to tax evasion and abuse of a public trust.

Gabbard is accused of withholding state income tax from employee checks and keeping the money for himself.

In addition to resigning, Gabbard will have to pay more than $61,000 in restitution to the state.
