Owsley Co. substitute teacher accused of having inappropriate pictures

OWSLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are investigating after a substitute teacher is accused of having inappropriate pictures of a 13-year-old student.

The teacher, Dominic Johnson, who worked for the Owsley County school district, has been arrested.

Police say some of the pictures even ended up on Facebook.

Owsley County School Superintendent Tim Bobrowski tells WKYT that Johnson had been substitute teaching for several years.

"Started working back in 2008 fresh out of high school. Passed the tests, the background checks were clean," said Bobrowski.

Brabowski also says staff saw those alleged posts, and immediately called him.

"When people see this on the social media websites, they let me know about it, and I'm very thankful. I was in bed at the time, but they knew it was something that needed my attention that they felt comfortable enough to call," said Bobrowski.

Bobrowski says none of the photos were taken on school property. Although he was only an occasional substitute teacher, Brabowski says Johnson was involved in extracurriculars and helped with the cheerleading team and softball teams.

Johnson is due back in court for his arraignment on March 4. We're told he has since bonded out of jail.
