Painter steals $10K in jewelry from Lexington home, police say

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A man is in jail, accused of stealing more than $10,000 worth of jewelry from a Lexington home.

Court papers show David McCabe, 48, asked the housekeeper at a home on Bridgeport Drive to unlock an upstairs bedroom window and remove the screens so he could paint the window sills.

A jewelry box inside the bedroom later turned up missing.

Police have charged McCabe with burglary.
