Pastor denies rape charge from behind bars

A pastor faces allegations he sexually molested a child who belongs to his church.

36-year-old Jeremy Dewayne Caraway is pastor of the Loyall Church of God in Harlan County. State police arrested him Sunday morning on charges of rape, sexual abuse, sodomy and unlawful transaction with a minor.

Police say family members of the victim found conversations on Facebook between Caraway, and the female victim, who is under the age of 14.

In a jailhouse interview, Caraway says he never had sexual contact with the girl.

"No. I've never touched her except when we were praying," said Caraway.

Caraway says in his job as pastor, he's been helping the girl get through some hard times.

"We don't want to get the kid in trouble, but a lot of those things, only two or three of us knew, and we were praying through those things," said Caraway.

He's being held in the Harlan County Detention Center.
