Police: Major drug supplier arrested in Georgetown

Updated: Tue 4:49 PM, Feb 05, 2013

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WKYT) - Georgetown Police say months of undercover work landed a high profile drug suspect behind bars.

Police arrested 31-year-old Michael Brewster on Friday. Detectives called Brewster a 'mid-level dealer' and called him one of the biggest drug suppliers in town.

Georgetown Police say arrests made during an August drug round-up alerted detectives to Brewster. After several months of undercover work, police got a warrant to search Brewster's home. According to an arrest citation, Brewster sold percosets to undercover officers several times. That same report says that when Brewster was arrested, he had a large amount of pills and cash on him.

"We are moving up the food chain," explained Captain Robert Swanigan of the Georgetown Police Department. "Our goal is to keep moving up and the major distributors of these drugs."

Georgetown Police are now working to find Brewster's suppliers and are hoping to make more arrests in this case.

Brewster is charged with several counts of trafficking a controlled substance.
