FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - A day at the park turned frightening for some families in Frankfort. Police say a man grabbed children who were on a playground.
Frankfort Police arrested Sheth Ishwarba, 65, and charged him with sexual abuse and criminal tresspassing.
Angela Lewis says she comes to Lakeview Park pretty often. Her oldest child likes the skate park, the younger ones like the playground. She says her 16-year-old daughter was practicing cheerleading moves near a pavilion on June 19th when something happened that she never expected.
Lewis says she was watching her daughter practice when she was caught off guard by a stranger.
"This guy had ran up to my daughter and had kissed her," said Lewis.
She says the man also grabbed her daughter inappropriately.
She says a man accosted her and her daughter "I got up and told him "You need to leave her alone. That's my child" and as soon as I said that, that's when he came at me and I pushed him," she said.
They say other parents told them he had grabbed their children and tried to leave the park before they stopped them.
"It made me mad. First thing that came to my mind was me getting ahold of him and snatching him up," said Lewis.
"I flat out told the cops you need to go do something about that perv up there because if you don't, you're going to lock me up as fast as I stand here," she continues.
Police say reports like this are rare in Frankfort parks. Lewis says if it ever happens again, she'll be ready.
"I'll stop something from now on. I'm going to go buy me some mace and start carrying it," said Lewis.
Lewis says her daughter was pretty shaken up by the incident. She says it'll be a while before she feels comfortable again.
