Police: Woman charged after man found living in filthy house

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A woman faces charges after, police say, she neglected a disabled man she was supposed to be taking care of.

Lexington police arrested Julia Posgrove. Lexington Police say they've been working with Posgrove for weeks. They finally got inside the home on Kilkenny Court on Tuesday after getting a search warrant. Police tell us they found a mentally and physically disabled man in the home, lying on a floor covered in human and animal feces.

Neighbors tell us Posgrove has been taking care of the man for at least twenty years. John Crase says Polsgrove loved nothing more than her nine cats and her dog. The animals are now being looked after by animal care and control.

Julie is a sweet lady," Crase says. "She smells a little bit, but I pray for her."

"She has a friend down the road here who was supposed to come and help her clean the house and everything," says Patsy Jones.

Jones, who lives on the same cul-de-sac says she's not been inside the home, but she's saddened her neighbor has been arrested.

"If I knew she needed it, I would have helped her."

Officials have deemed Posgrove's half of the duplex uninhabitable. She is charged with knowingly neglecting an adult.
