Police: Burglar enters business through roof, gets spooked by alarm

LONDON, Ky. (WKYT) - It was late Sunday night and the store was closed. A thief saw a moment of opportunity, climbing to the roof of the business, cutting a hole in the ceiling, and dropping inside. But once inside, a surprise was waiting for him.

The man didn't realize the store had an alarm system.

“An audible alarm went off, the motion detector and he became scared and ran out the front door,” said Gilbert Acciardo with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

That alarm had him running for cover, but not before leaving his image for the cameras to capture.

“He didn't get away with anything. So the alarm did its job, and we also have surveillance video we are trying to track down and hope to get some information from that,” said Acciardo.

Police say the video shows the man wearing a white hoodie and camouflage pants.
