Police quickly arrest three in Lexington armed robbery

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A gas station is closed after an early morning robbery. It happened at the Speedway on Paris Pike, near I-75 in Lexington.

Police say two men wearing masks, one armed with a shotgun, came in to the store a little after three Wednesday morning. The men demanded money from the clerk and also stole beer.

The two masked men ran out of the store and into a neighborhood on foot. Police say that made it easier for them to track the alleged robbers down.

Police used K-9 units to follow the scent of the robbers. The track led them to a home on Strawberry Fields. There, police say they found two men matching the description of the robbers and some evidence related to the crime. Police arrested those two men and another person at the home.

Investigators say the only person inside the store at the time was the clerk. That clerk was not hurt.

Managers hope to open the store soon after police complete their investigation.
