WWII-era plane, pilot safe after false reports of crash in Fayette Co.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington police and firefighters spent part of Friday afternoon investigating reports of a possible plane crash, but they say they didn't find anything.

Police say some people in the Gentry Road area, near the Athens community, reported seeing a World War II era plane possibly crashing.

Police and firefighters went to the area to investigate, but they didn't find any wreckage.

Lexington Police say the plane people reported seeing was being flown by a stunt pilot. They say the plane did not crash, and the pilot is okay.

Police and firefighters have cleared the area.
