LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington Police are looking for a man who tried to rob a Subway restaurant Sunday.

Police say it happened around 7 p.m. Police tell WKYT the man walked into the restaurant near Saron Drive, implied he had a weapon, and demanded cash.

The employees did not comply. The suspect left with nothing. Police say he got into a car with his girlfriend, attempting to leave the parking lot. The woman got out of the car once she learned what he did. He escaped in a blue Toyota. Police say the woman was extremely helpful with details of the suspect.

"[She] cooperated with us by providing a name, address, date of birth, everything," said Lt. Eddie Hart, Lexington Police.

Police are confident an arrest will be made in this case.

They say the suspect's actions are similar to a pair of robberies on Friday night and officials will check to see if the crimes are connected.

Once found, the man will be charged with attempted robbery.
