Police use taser on man after high speed chase

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police had to use a taser on a man after he led them on a high speed chase down I-64 on Thursday.

State Police say they saw a black Chevy trail blazer driving recklessly down the interstate.

But when they tried to stop the vehicle, the driver, German Gonzalaz from Lexington, refused to pull over.

The high speed chase lasted sixteen miles, through Shelby County.

Police say they laid a spike strip, after which the vehicle finally came to a stop, but Gonzalaz still refused to obey police.

Police had to taze Gonzalaz to get him to cooperate.

He is now being held in the Shelby County Detention Center on several charges.
