Record Powerball jackpot has people lining up for tickets

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - It's the second largest jackpot in lottery history.

A record-setting Powerball Jackpot has many folks across the bluegrass and around the country dreaming big!

"I really feel like this is my time to win!" explains Matt Sullivan, a Powerball hopeful. The jackpot, which stands at half a billion dollars, is the highest Powerball in history. The $656 million dollar Mega Millions jackpot back in March is the largest jackpot to date.

"I never buy lottery tickets but today I though why not," explains Sullivan. With the chances being one in 175 million, there are a few unliikely scenarios that, sorry to say, are much more likely than you taking home the half a billion dollar jackpot.

Traveling to the moon, being attacked by a shark and getting trampled by a deer in Hawaii, a place you're not even likely to encounter a deer, are just some of the statistics. Even with the odds against lottery players, people are still lining up and trying their chances.
