SOMERSET, Ky. (WKYT) - Lela Whitaker wears a locket with a picture of her grandson, Kevin, when he was 12.
“He’s with me everywhere I go,” she said, holding the locket.
The problem is that the 21 year old Kevin hasn’t been with her for 4 years..since police say he was murdered and his body burned sometime after he left work.
“I want justice for Kevin. I hope it’s in my lifetime. Because I’m definitely not getting any younger,” she said.
Police say they’re actively investigating yet they say they don’t have enough evidence to make an arrest.
So in the meantime Price’s family buys billboards asking for justice, like the one with the message seen every few minutes on the flashing sign at the intersection of Ky. 914 and U.S. 27.
The sign reads "4 years, No answers, No justice....yet" with three pictures of Kevin, one taken right before his murder, another from when he was in high school, and one taken at his kindergarten graduation.
“We still miss Kevin. Always miss Kevin. He was taken way too early,” Whitaker said.
And they honor his memory on the new fountain square
Where thousands drive by every day…
Kevin Price’s family spent Thanksgiving without him in 2009. His body was found a few days after that holiday. His funeral was held a few weeks before Christmas and every year during the Holidays this family says they feel a lot of pain.
A reward is available for the person who finally has the answers to the mystery, the family only says the amount is substantial.
“And let us know what happened to Kevin. So we can rest. Because we haven’t rested in 4 years,” Whitaker said.
Hoping that another year doesn’t go by…before they have justice.
