Rain will end with much cooler temperatures

Posted: Sun 4:48 PM, Jan 13, 2013

Strong storms and heavy rain moved across Commonwealth Sunday ahead of a cold front. Parts of western KY had more than 3" of rain from the past couple of days. Some areas may have a flooding threat before the rain ends late Sunday night. There will be a chance of a brief wintry mix Sunday night with little to no accumulation. Some light accumulation will be possible across the mountains. Roads will also be slick as temperatures drop to the upper 20s.

Temperatures will be chilly to start the week with highs staying in the 30s. As an upper level disturbance moves in during the afternoon there will be a chance of rain mixed with some sleet or light snow, especially across southern and eastern KY. Some light accumulation may be possible. The rest of the week will be seasonal before another shot of chilly air arrives on Thursday.
