Reports of power outages, damage as storms roll through Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Storms rolled through central Kentucky on Wednesday afternoon. It didn't take long for damage reports to start pouring in.

WKYT Chief Meteorologist Chris Bailey received a report via Twitter of a tree down at Leestown Road and South Yarnallton in Lexington.

At 6 p.m., The Kentucky Utilities outage map showed 28,000 customers without power in Lexington. By 8:30 p.m., the number was down to around 5,300, with most of the remaining outages in the Versailles Road and Maxwell Street areas.

UK sent out an alert saying there is a power outage on parts of campus. The alert says crews are working to restore service.
