LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Fans of the legendary racehorse Secretariat will find some newly published images of the Triple Crown winner in a calendar featuring photographs taken by late equine photographer Tony Leonard.
The calendar is the first project to emerge after years of uncertainty about what would happen to Leonard's extensive collection after he and his wife became a wards of the state in 2009.
The $25 calendar features 20 images and celebrates the 40th anniversary of Secretariat's Triple Crown win in 1973.
The Lexington Herald-Leader (http://bit.ly/1afgp5Y) reported that Leonard's 500,000 images and negatives were purchased just before his death in 2012.
Leonard photographed horses for nearly 50 years. He died at the age of 89 in a Lexington nursing home.
