Gunman killed in shootout with police

Several people were injured in a shooting in Breathitt County.

It began around 8:00 Sunday night off Highway 30 West, in the Canoe community.

State police tell 27 NEWSFIRST a trooper received a buckshot to the face, but has non-life threatening injuries.

We're told two Breathitt sheriff's deputies were also shot. Their injuries are also non-life threatening.

Two other people were shot as well. They also have non-life threatening injuries.

State police say the gunman was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound, where he later died.
