Shots fired in Lexington home invasion, kids inside

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The search continues for three masked men behind a home invasion.

Lexington Police got the call just before midnight Sunday on Loudon Avenue, near Castlewood Park. The crime happened in an apartment located above a store.

Police tell WKYT that three masked men kicked in the front door of an apartment. One of the men was armed with a gun and another with a knife.

The man living there confronted the criminals. He ended up in a struggle with the suspect who was carrying the knife. As a result, the victim received several cuts on his hands, but no life threatening injuries.

Witnesses told police they heard what appeared to be three gunshots.

WKYT learned from police that there were four children inside the home as all of this was happening. They were not injured.

There is still no word on a motive for the crime.
