BURLINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A jury has convicted a northern Kentucky man of murder and other counts in the shooting deaths of his parents.
WCPO-TV reports jurors in Boone County returned the verdict Monday evening after deliberating for hours.
Prosecutors said Michael Moore, who is 43, killed Warren and Madge Moore in 2009 due to his growing appetite for drugs. They said he was after his mother's pain pills.
Defense attorneys said Warren Moore killed his wife, and then Michael Moore killed his father as they struggled over the gun. They said Warren Moore was depressed and angry that his wife was sharing her pain medication with her son.
Michael Moore, a former Warren County, Ohio, sheriff's deputy, originally told police that an intruder had killed his parents. Prosecutors portrayed him as a liar.
