CRESTWOOD, Ky. (AP) - A teacher from South Oldham High School has been selected to take part in a Library of Congress institute this week in Washington.

The Library of Congress says participants in the five-day program work with specialists to learn about using primary sources in the classroom and explore digitized historical artifacts and documents available on the library's website.

South Oldham teacher Chandra Emerson was chosen from a pool of more than 500 applicants to participate this week. The Library of Congress offers five teacher institutes for K-12 educators each year in Washington.

The library says all educators can access classroom materials and teaching tools and strategies at http://www.loc.gov/teachers .
