Stabbing started over stolen hat in Perry County

PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) -- The suspect in a southern Kentucky stabbing says the fight started as an argument over a stolen hat.

It happened at a home on Noble Mountain Drive Sunday, in Perry County, when an argument broke out between Jonathan Stewart and Steven Sizemore.

Stewart says he found a knife in a ditch and used it in self defense.

Sizemore was cut from his bicep to his elbow.

Police arrested stewart on assault charges, she says he went to the house with the intentions of talking things over.

"I came up there to talk it out and they thought since there wasn't nobody around that they could fight and it was going to be easy to fight me and it wasn't," Jonathan Stewart.

Police expect Sizemore to be released from the hospital soon.
