London, Ky (WKYT) - Kentucky State Police say a man was driving under the influence of drugs, on I-75 in Laurel County Tuesday night. A trooper stopped 20-year-old Cornelius Blankenship, who is from Columbus, around 8:25 pm, at the 45 mile marker.
The trooper says he smelled marijuana, and determined Blankenship was under the influence of drugs. The trooper arrested him for operating a motor vehicle under the Influence of drugs, possession of marijuana and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Two passengers in the vehicle, 30-year-old Carl Keys, and 25-year-old Ashlea Rawlins, both of Columbus, were also arrested. The trooper charged the two with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and endangering the welfare of a minor.
State Police say there were 13 Methadone pills in the vehicle, along with 10 grams of Marijuana and $18,780. Troopers turned the cash over to the DEA.
The trooper says A 3-year-old was also in the car. The Kentucky Cabinet for Families and Children took the toddler into protective custody.
