David Jewell and his mother rely on his moped to get around.

"I have not been able to go much of anywhere except to work. Which I had to walk to for the past five days," says Jewell.

Jewell's bike was stolen last Monday while he was at work at Movie Tavern.

"I've been looking on Craigslist myself and I've walked through a couple of neighborhoods looking for it on my days off," adds Jewell.

He shared his story with WKYT last week and Sunday, he got a call he never thought would come, "This morning, I got a phone call from the Lexington Police Department. They were calling to notify me that they had found my scooter which was found abandoned near a dumpster."

Jewell says it's in rough shape, "They laid it out. The left rear quarter panel has some damage on the side and it's also detached from it itself. The glove box has been ripped off and so has the compartment under the seat. And the alignment is off."

While he will have to pay for the repairs, Jewell is relieved the moped is now with him, "I'm happy to get it back, but honestly I do hope they get apprehended. They could do it to someone else that could have a lot bigger issues than me."

Now that his bike is in his possession, Jewell plans to make sure it stays that way, "Now I know I'm keeping this chained up. Morning, noon, and night.

Lexington Police have not made any arrests in this case. But Jewell says they do have some surveillance video that they are reviewing.
