Student robbed near UK campus

LEXINGTON, Ky. Police are on the lookout for the man who robbed a UK student walking near the intersection of Transylvania Park and Euclid Avenue around 11:00 on Tuesday night.

The victim told police she had headphones on, and was listening to music when a white man, who was possibly in his 20s came up behind her and pushed her to the ground.

She said he was wearing dark clothes and was wearing a black toboggan with ear flaps.

The thief took her purse and iPhone and ran off. When he robbed her, the student screamed loudly enough to catch the attention of two men who lived nearby.

When they ran out of the home and confronted the robber, one chased after him while the other stayed with the victim. Even though the man who gave chase didn't catch up with the thief, the woman's purse was found.

"We heard a yell from outside. There was a girl in the driveway over there and a guy standing over top of her. He was pretty bundled up, he was clearly hiding himself," said Zachary Lehman, the man who chased the thief.

When WKYT spoke to police, they said this robbery and a robbery that occurred later on North Limestone St. were not related.
