SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A teenager has been arrested after police say he burglarized a home, stole a car, went on a joyride and destroyed part of a field after setting the car on fire.
Georgetown police say it all started Monday evening when the teen broke into a home in a Lexington trailer park off Lisle road.
Police say the teen stole the keys to a white Dodge Neon and took it for a joyride, eventually ditching the car and setting it on fire in a field behind the Sutton Place subdivision.
Witnesses told police while the teen was watching the car burn, he decided to smoke a cigarette and that's when he caught himself on fire.
Police say the boy took off running and briefly led officers on a foot chase while trying to get away. He was eventually caught. The teen only suffered minor burns.
