JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Police say Christian Lynn Cox, 22, is back in police custody. Cox is the inmate who police say escaped from custody in Jessamine County Monday afternoon.
The escape happened around 3:30 p.m. on Monday in Nicholasville along Main Street.
Police say a deputy with the Fayette County Sheriff's Office was transporting Cox from the Jessamine County Detention Center to the Lexington Division of Community Corrections when he exited the vehicle and escaped the custody of the transporting deputy. That happened at a stoplight near Walgreens, not even 24 hours after being in custody.
It was around two Tuesday morning when Cox showed up at the Lexington Division of Police West Sector Roll Call. A release from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office says Cox made contact with a family friend who agreed to meet him, and who also had contacted law enforcement authorities.
Cox was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Fayette County for a probation violation. More charges against Cox are pending. He is now in the Fayette County Detention Center.
