Anderson County, Ky. (WKYT) - School officials say a threat was made early Monday morning towards an Anderson County High School student and the school itself.

Police say a female student got text messages from James Tindal, Junior around midnight. Investigators say they were notified of the texts right after they were sent.

City officers, along with Anderson County Sheriff's deputies, quickly arrested the suspect, 19-year-old James R. Tindal Jr.

A KSP K-9 unit performed a search of the school and deemed it safe for students.

Parents were notified about the incident.

"It's scary," commented Holly Cairell, a parent who has three kids in the Anderson County School system. She says the mere threat of violence reminds her of the recent massacre in Newtown, Connecticut.

Police say because the girl Tindal threatened has connections to Emma B. Ward Elementary School, they searched that building as well.

"I'm shocked to even hear about it," Donna Boggess said. Bogess has a grand daughter who attends Anderson County High. "It's kind of scary when it hits this close to home."

Tindal is in the Shelby County Detention Center on charges of terroristic threatening and harassing communications.
