Three Whitley County teens charged in school bomb threat

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - The Whitley County Sheriff's Department has charged three teenagers because of a bomb threat.

Investigators say someone found the threat written on a bathroom wall on Monday at Whitley County High School. The note read "I will blow up the school and kill everyone in it."

Bomb sniffing dogs were brought to the school on Monday night. They did not find anything.

As part of their investigation, the sheriff's department charged a 16-year-old boy with terroristic threatening. They say he admitted to writing the threat on the wall in an attempt to get out of school.

Investigators also charged a 14-year-old Whitley County Middle School student who claimed she helped make the bomb. She's charged with disorderly conduct. Investigators also charged a 14-year-old boy with the same thing for also claiming he helped make the bomb.

Investigators say students at Whitley County Middle and High School helped by reporting the students' comments to school officials.
