Three suspended after inmates found with tobacco, porn

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Three employees of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet were suspended after jail inmates were caught working in a room with tobacco and several pornographic magazines.

As a result of the rule violations, the Franklin Regional Jail's Government Services Program suspended the cabinet as a worksite.

Assistant Director of Administrative Services Brian Easton and Facilities Management specialist Steven Lewis were suspended in January five days without pay. Building Maintenance Superintended Richard received a three-day suspension without pay, but has appealed the decision.

A jail official found the inmates in July working in a room with the tobacco and magazines, resulting in the suspensions.

Cabinet spokeswoman Cathy Lindsey told The State Journal the cabinet would be restored as a worksite after a training program.
