Three young girls injured in collision in Boyle County

DANVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Three young girls were injured when the car they were riding in struck another vehicle and caught on fire Friday night.

Danville police say 31-year-old Andrea Roy rear-ended another vehicle on Lexington Road at the intersection of Old Lexington Road around 7:30pm Friday night. Police say all passengers, including three young girls ages 13, 12 and 8 were able to exit the vehicle before a fire started in the engine.

The 8 year-old was flown to UK Medical Center and the other two were taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Their injuries are unknown at this time.

Neither driver was injured during the collision. Police and Emergency responders were able to clear the scene just before 10pm.

The incident is still under investigation.
