Lexington Police estimate a 3-year-old boy was wondering his neighborhood, alone, for some time before a neighbor noticed him.

The woman found the toddler at the intersection of Narrow Lane and Park Lawn Drive, just off Crosby Drive. The woman called police and told them she had found a small child walking the neighborhood barefoot, and in a diaper, with no signs of an adult around.

She and another woman took the child to a park and stayed with him until officers arrived. About an hour later the toddler's teenage brother showed up at the park, frantically searching for the little boy.
When questioned by officer's, the teen reportedly told them he had accidentally fallen asleep. "We were here for sometime trying to find family, and find out where he lived, when his 17-year-old brother woke up, just around the corner, and realized that the 3-year-old he was supposed to be watching was gone," said Lexington Police Lt. Chris Van Brackel.

The little boy is safe. His mother came to the park to get her son. She declined our request for a comment.

Police did not file charges, but say they did report the incident to social services, which is investigating.
