BURLINGTON, Ky. (AP) - The trial of a northern Kentucky man on charges that he killed his parents four years ago could be delayed.
Defense attorneys for 42-year-old Michael Ernst Moore have asked that the scheduled trial date of Aug. 13 be bumped to sometime in 2014. The Kentucky Enquirer reported that if the motion is granted, it would be the fourth delay granted.
Moore is facing the death penalty if convicted of two counts of murder of his parents, Warren and Madge Moore of Union, in June 2009.
Moore's public defender Joanne Lynch says her office is looking for a new mitigation specialist for the case after the last investigator resigned.
Boone County Commonwealth's Attorney Linda Talley Smith called the mounting delays "ridiculous."
