Victim identified in I-75 crash

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington Police have released the name of the victim in a crash on I-75 Wednesday morning.

22-year-old Michael McCall of Cynthiana was killed on I-75 northbound, near the Athens Boonesboro exit.

Police say a semi driver had pulled off on the side of the interstate. The semi was parked when a pickup truck slammed into the back of it. Both vehicles caught fire.

McCall was inside the pickup, and died at the scene. Investigators are trying to figure out why the driver careened into the back of the parked tractor trailer.

Officials are now telling WKYT the cause of death has been determined as blunt force trauma.

Police had several northbound lanes closed while they investigated the crash. Those lanes re-opened around 6:45 Wednesday morning.
