LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Lexington Walmart was one of the first stores to bring Hostess' Twinkies back to its shelves over the weekend.
But after an 8 month hiatus, Twinkies officially returned to stores nationwide Monday.
Several major U.S. retailers started selling Hostess' iconic snack a few days before the official return, including the Richmond Road Walmart in Lexington.
Twinkies along with other Hostess products have not been made since November, when Hostess filed for bankruptcy and liquidated its 82-year-old business.
A private equity firm bought the company, paving the way for Twinkies to return.
